What a trip this has been! From our start in Ambelside, to our end here in England, we have learned so much! It is bittersweet as today is our last full day in country before we depart tomorrow morning for home!

To end our trip, we began the day by gazing at the famous Crown Jewels at the history filled, Tower of London! We got to see a variety of Royal jewels including Queen Elizabeth’s coronation crown and attire, as well as many of the other pieces used at all Royal coronations! We then got the opportunity to be lead by Jimmy, a “Beefeater” AKA a Yeoman Warder, through the Tower of London! We began our tour on the outskirts of the Tower and worked our way in where our tour ended!

We learned about many of the executions that occurred in the Tower! Anne Boleyn, being one of them, was important to our text that we were discussing today by Sir Thomas Wyatt. Jake lead our group in discussion about Wyatt’s poems and how the Tower of London relates to them, while also providing us with some history and other information about the Tower of London! Like stated above, Jimmy, the Beefeater, informed us about the execution of Boleyn who was King Henry VIII second wife! Boleyn was executed with the charges of adultery and incest. During her execution, the small crowd that was attending gasped after she was decapitated because of her eyes still moving! This is just one of the many gruesome stories Jimmy blessed us with knowing!

We also got to explore the White Tower in which some of the armor, riffles, and other battle pieces are on display. Throughout the building we climbed over 200 stairs to see pieces of history from the different Kings! We got to see a variety of sizes and pieces including King Henry VIII armor! It was amazing to see these pieces of history!

After the Tower of London we ate lunch together at Wagamamas and are now doing some last minute shopping and site seeing before we pack up and prepare ourselves for another long day of travel! Hopefully this airport experience goes smoothly as planned unlike our trip here! We appreciate the thoughts from everyone throughout our trip and as we travel back home tomorrow! Hopefully you have enjoyed reading our blogs and keeping updated with all of our adventures here in England! We can’t wait to be home and tell everyone even more of the exciting events that happened while we were here, including seeing Prince Charles TWICE! πŸ™‚ Thanks again for all your continued thoughts as we travel tomorrow! We are sad to leave, but thankful for this amazing experience!
